Have you ever wondered how the pizza professionals get their dough balls just right? It’s not too difficult to make pizza dough balls. All it takes is just a little concerted effort to make sure you get the air out and form a ball so the dough can rest and rise.
You will first want to take the unformed dough and fold it in half as seen in the pictures below.
Make sure to fold it all the way in half (as seen below).
You will want to then turn the dough a quarter turn and fold it in half again. Repeat this process about five times. This process will help to get the air out of the middle of the dough.
After about five times of folding and quarter turns, you will want to turn the dough upside down as seen in the picture below.
Now you are going to work on squeezing the air out of the top and center. As you rotate the bottom of the dough with one hand, use the other hand to squeeze air out of the top of the dough. You will begin to form what looks somewhat like a little balloon. You’re almost done making your dough ball!
Continue to squeeze the air out of the top and rotate the bottom for about one minute.
Within a few minutes, you will have formed a beautiful dough ball.
Now all you have to do is let your dough balls rest and rise for a little bit and you’ll be ready to make some delicious homemade pizza pies!
Special thanks to my husband, Rob, for teaching our family all about how to make the perfect pizza dough ball!
